Broström expands Dunya partnership
(17 March 2006 / Lloyd's List by Tony Gray)
SWEDEN'S leading product tanker operator Broström is expanding its partnership with Turkey's Dünya Shipping in a move that will add another six vessels to its fleet.
The six 17,000 dwt product and chemical tankers are being built in Turkey and will be added to Broström's 60-strong European product tanker fleet.
Under the agreement with Dünya Shipping, the two companies will each own three of the six vessels, which are under construction at three different shipyards.
All six vessels will be commercially operated by Broström, however.
The first vessel is scheduled to be handed over towards the end of this year, with the remaining deliveries taking place up to the beginning of 2008.
The three vessels to be owned by Broström will be delivered during 2007.
Since the beginning of 2005, Broström has had an agreement with Dünya covering the commercial management of eight 47,000 dwt product tankers under construction in South Korea.
These vessels will be operated by Broström in the expanding Asian market.
In addition, two existing Dünya vessels are currently under the commercial management of Broström.
